Directors and Officers of Chapter 135:

■  LEFT – Scott Satterwhite, Chapter President, with daughter Maddy at the March 19 Rally, the 5th anniversary of Iraq invasion. Scott joined the U.S. Navy in 1989. He was trained as a Hospital Corpsman, served as a battalion corpsmen for the 2nd Marine Division and 3rd Marine Division, then did several tours of duty with naval medical units. Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1999, he joined his first anti-war protest shortly afterwards and became active in the Global Justice movement surrounding the WTO protests in Seattle. He joined Veterans for Peace in 2003 and was a founding members of the Northwest Florida Chapter of VFP. Call him at 850-437-1323, or vfppcola@yahoo.com.

RIGHT – William M. Sloan, Recorder and website administrator, at the January 2007, Rally, Washington, DC. Bill was born and reared in an Army and Air Force family. He could read the headlines from Pearl Harbor. Through ROTC he was commissioned a lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers and saw active duty in Germany, 1959-62. His first doubts about American policy rose from the CIA overthrow, 1953, of Mohammed Mossadegh’s elected government in Iran and the installation of a dictator king. Along with many fellow students, he applauded the fall of Fulgencio Battista’s dictatorship and thought the Palestinians got a raw deal. He was a loyal, energetic officer during active service – but doubts there were later confirmed by Vietnam and America’s support of any anti-communist tyrant. Email him at bill@vfp3o40.fatcow.com.
